A True Authentic Chinese Restaurant
The Mencius Gourmet Hunan Restaurant was a huge hit for my family and it was packed but we were waited on fast. First of all the food was excellent and did not weigh me down like many of the Chinese buffets do. We had the family meal for three that held three different main courses, egg rolls, crab cakes, and Wanton soup. I found the soup to be excellent and enhailed each and every last drop. It is rare when I actually enjoy a soup so you know that the Wanton soup was something truely special. The crab cake was very good and held just the right texture. I tried all three of the main courses made up of sweet and sour chicken, Chinese chicken, and a Hunan beef dish. I enjoyed the flavors of all three buy my favorite of the three was the Chinese chicken. The lighting was a little dim and so my photos did not turn out as well as I would have liked. Despite this issue I have provided photos of the interior space below. Following the photo slide show you will find my wife’s review and a third review written by my 14 year old nephew.

Mencius Hunan Restaurant Review continued
Being somewhat new to the Houston area, I haven’t had a chance to try chinese food until tonight. I have had lived and tried chinese food across the United States. Mencius Gourmet Hunan in Kingwood TX was not only the best chinese food that I have ever had, they also provided excellent service. We ordered the family meal for three and had plenty of food and selection. It comes with three different entrees, soup, egg rolls, and something I wasn’t sure what it was, but it tasted good. If you don’t want the entrees listed on the menu, they allow you to make subsitutions for one dollar. Even with as big of eaters as my family is, we were able to take home three boxes of food, which I am sure will be enough for our lunch. I can definately find myself eating there again.

When I went to Mencius Gourmet Hunan in Kingwood TX, I had a pretty good time. It had a nice quiet atmosphere with dimmed lights, good servers and a fun bartender. The waiter started us off with an order of drinks and some good bread chip like things. I ate a lot of them. I got a Roy Rogers, and we ordered our food, then they gave us a delicious wanton soup filled with many ingredients, and I liked it. Soon we got our whole meal. It had great chicken and some veggies. I also think it was more adult based but it was a good restaurant all in all.
